We believe that every community, from our city’s individual neighborhoods to the greater LA area, is only as strong as its parts – so at JONS we’re passionate about contributing to the organizations of each neighborhood we serve. We’re proud to participate in the following programs...
Children’s Hospital Los Angeles
As an annual participant in the Hospital Toy Drive, JONS was able to collect over 1,000 toys in 2010 alone! With your help and the help of our employees, we’re looking forward to reaching a new goal this year – so that together we can make the holidays special for everyone.
Muscular Dystrophy Association
During our annual “Shamrocks Against Dystrophy” event, part of the MDA’s St. Patrick’s Day program, JONS sells $1 and $5 shamrocks – in March, you’ll see many of our doors covered with green and yellow shamrocks! Best of all, 100% of those donations go towards helping to fight neuromuscular disease. We’re similarly involved in the “Aisles of Smiles” program: in 2009 and 2010 we’ve collectively raised over $100,000 – and that’s something we can all smile about.
New Horizons
JONS works closely with New Horizons to fulfill our shared mission to empower “adults with developmental disabilities … through partnerships, community education, and advocacy.” We’re honored to have many of New Horizons’ affiliates working in our stores. Check out this link, and join us in thanking them for all that they do! New Horizons.
SunDown
The Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles honors individuals with Down Syndrome for their outstanding achievement in employment and community service (see dsala.org). In 2011, JONS was honored to accept their “Vision Award” at their annual SunDown Spring Benefit, in recognition of the many ways that our stores support individuals with Down Syndrome and help to make their voices heard. We’re especially delighted that one of our own employees, Guillermo Loaiza, was honored with their “Voices Award,” presented to individuals with Down Syndrome who share their independent voice in the community. Congratulations, Guillermo!
City of Hope
JONS is helping City of Hope take precious steps in the fight against pediatric cancer. During the month of October, JONS participates in the “Kids 4 Hope” program by selling $1 mobiles at its checkout registers. You may notice the mobiles decorating our stores, but, better yet, a 100% of these donations go towards benefiting pediatric cancer research, treatment, and education programs at City of Hope.
And because we believe that helping local schools and students is everybody’s business, JONS is also a proud participant in the annual Labels for Education and Box Tops for Education programs and a recurrent contributor to local charities – donating everything from bottled water and blankets to turkeys and Christmas trees! Working together, we can make a difference.
